Station to Station - Animals

During my internship at Galaxy Grove, I had the opportunity to work on several 3D voxel projects, including creating these animal models for Station to Station. Although I had no prior experience with the software we mainly used, it was an exciting challenge that allowed me to learn new skills and explore my creativity in a different art style.

The animals I modeled and animated include:
- Bird
- Dog
- Cow
- Horse
- Dromedary

A big thank you to Joost van Dongen and Dimasvoxel for guiding me on this journey. Enjoy!

Here you can see how the added geometry bends the cubic shapes in a more organic way. We chose this approach because the shape language wouldn’t be as readable without those organic movements!

I tried to add more character to this one using the 12 principles of animation. This resulted in a more fluid and jiggly dog that we ended up really liking! What a cutie, don’t you think?

Animating the horse was quite challenging, as its movement characteristics required extra attention. Real-life references were crucial, along with Joost’s helpful animation techniques in Blender.

This was the last animal I produced before ending my internship. It was a pleasure to create these models from scratch and see them come to life in motion!

This was my first attempt at animating a voxel animal. I was still experimenting with whether animating one mesh or separate meshes (like the torso and legs) would give a better result. For the rest of the animals, we decided to use a combined mesh.
